Hot Cocoa & Drinking Chocolates

Learn the secrets to a memorable cup of hot chocolate and how it has changed from the original ancient drink of Mesoamerica to the aristocratic salons of Europe to the special treats of today. We’ll concentrate on the unique characteristics of French, Italian, Spanish, Colombian and, of course, Mexican versions of these beverages.

For Younger Chocolate Enthusiasts: Chocolate Creations (Grades 3-5)

During this hands-on after school enrichment class or series, we’ll transform your room into a Cacao Laboratory! Explore the history, geography, and especially the science behind this popular topic. Best of all, learn make tasty creations to share with your family.

Choco-Reading & Sipping (Zoom-Friendly!)

Let’s gather to discuss the 1999 popular book, Chocolat by Joanne Harris. Also examine how it compares to the 2000 movie adaptation starring Juliet Binoche and Johnny Depp. Afterwards, we’ll discover the history of chocolate as a beverage and conclude with a demonstration of making luxurious French drinking chocolate, recipe and (and possible tasting) included.

STEP 3: Armchair or Free-Style

For in person programs, our armchair events are seated and designed for smaller groups or groups in a more structured setting. A multi-media presentation is followed by a guided tasting. If you have a larger group, you may want to chose our less structured free-style tasting format. Guests circulate around the room visiting different tasting “stations” at their own pace.

We accept reservations for the Inland Northwest April through October and for the Tampa Bay Area November through April of each year.

Important Tasting Fine Print

  • We only showcase chocolate harvested and processed in an ethical manner, a minimum of 6 personally curated selections per in person program and 4 for virtual ones.
  • Our Most Popular Trio programs are $18.75/person for in person events and $10/person for Zoom-Friendly virtual ones. For our Even More Chocolate Experiences, please contact us for fees.
  • Pricing listed is for tastings in Hayden, Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, Idaho (May through October) and St. Petersburg, Florida (November through April). Please contact us for pricing outside these geographical areas.
  • Our fees include set up, information galore about chocolate, guided tasting, sparkling water and crackers to clean your palates between selections, rating and information sheets on the featured chocolates, and clean up. Everything needed for a fun and memorable experience.
  • All it takes is a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold the date of your choice. This is then applied to the program fee.
