WE’RE
IN THE NEWS-NOT ONCE BUT TWICE!
The
last month has brought some much appreciated publicity for Portland Chocolate
Walking & Tasting Tours. First we were in the March/April issue of VIA
magazine, published by AAA of Oregon and Idaho.
Then a few weeks ago we were on Fox News 12. Follow this link to our home page
to see the video which aired on Tuesday, March 10: www.ChocolateTastingAndMore.com We
are grateful to AAA and Fox News 12 for this coverage.

AN
EVENING OF CHOCOLATE IMMERSION
Join
us at the historic McLean House in West Linn as we explore cocoa and drinking
chocolate, taste a variety of bar chocolates, and make delicious truffles to
take home. This all takes place on Thursday, May 7, from 6-9 pm. For more details
and registration information, go to www.chocolatetastingandmore.com/tastings.htm Why not treat your mom or a special mother-figure in your life to an evening
immersed in chocolate?
Choco-Phrase of the Month
Cacao
Nibs are the edible part of the cocoa bean. If you find the plain nibs too
bitter, no problem. Nibs covered with dark chocolate and/or spices for a sweeter
taste are becoming more popular. They all can be substituted for nuts and are
wonderful on cereal and yogurt. Frederick Schilling, from Dagoba Chocolates
in Ashland, says he likes to add them to coffee beans before he grinds them
to add a unique flavor. Because nibs are minimally processed, they are a terrific
source of antioxidants and all the other nutrients that make chocolate healthy.

A MORSEL OF NW CHOCO- HISTORY
Brown & Haley’s
Almond Roca has been produced at the same location in Tacoma, Washington since
1921, only 9 years after the company was founded. The foil-wrapped candy got
its name from a local librarian. Now, that’s community involvement! After
the development of that famous pink can, the popular treat was able to be shipped
world wide. Drop by the factory and store next time you head north. You can
get more information of this Northwest tradition at: www.brown-haley.com
