NEW WESITE AND BLOG
Chocolate Tasting and More is pleased to announce our new and improved website (www.chocolatetastingandmore.com) and recently launched blog (www.chocolatetastingandmore.com/blog) on all things chocolate. We look forward to utilizing these new digital vehicles to communicate with chocolate lovers here in the Portland Oregon Metro and beyond. Please take a moment to visit and familiarize yourself with these two locations in cyberspace. We hope you visit us often.
We’re on You-Tube
If you’ve joined us on a Portland Chocolate Walking & Tasting Tour since our inaugural program in October 2007, you just might find yourself on our new web video. Check it out at www.youtube.com/watch?v=thTln35BV-k. For best results, press pause and wait for the video to load before viewing. Afterwards, if you so desire, please leave a comment and share how you enjoyed your walking tour in either Downtown Portland, The Pearl or Lake Oswego. We are grateful for everyone who has gone "chocolating" with us. Hope to see you again soon.
Gift Certificates Available
Why just give chocolates, when you can give a chocolate experience? These gift certificates are good for any upcoming walking tours and are valid a year from the date of purchase. They make a perfect last-minute present for your Valentine. You can help the rainforest while also making your shopping easier by visiting us at: www.chocolatetastingandmore.com/pay.htm
Choco-Phrase of the Month
What are those cocoa percentages all about? Northern California’s Guittard Chocolate Company (www.guittard.com) was one of the first companies to include this information on packaging. Basically the number indicates how much cocoa mass or actual bean, cocoa powder and cocoa butter is contained in the bar. The remaining percentage is the amount of sugar (and vanilla, emulsifier, and/or milk solids- if they are used).
A MORSEL OF NW CHOCO- HISTORY
Dilettante’s Chocolates (www.dilettante.com) has been satisfying Seattle’s sweet teeth for over 30 years. Dilettante’s founder Dana Davenport has a family chocolate lineage that spans three generations. Many may not be aware that part of this family legacy left Hungary and traveled by sea and train to Portland in 1910. Here the Davenport chocolate Company was established and operated until 1927. Meier & Frank and Lipman & Wolf department stores were among their first customers.
